There is really only one thing left to do when one’s (he)art is broken: write a love letter.
In the wake of VS Naipaul’s recent interview posted in The Guardian, a flood of love letters directed to Naipaul–and to the (he)art of the matter–has recently begun at Love Letters to VS Naipaul. For the sake of archiving this important cultural exercise, we are posting the most engaging of those letters here.
Disclaimer: We feel certain such an outpouring is likely the result of the propensity towards sentimentality and “feminine tosh” that only women writers are capable of. While we cannot promise to reveal the gender of our authors, we feel confident in VS Naipaul’s ability to determine the gender of a writer within two paragraphs or less, and we know that he will know, and that is all that matters.

Brilliant, Jo.
Hello, I’m here from She Writes. Looking forward to reading those letters…
Oh Lord, I am laughing!!! Lovely.
I think Naipaul is brilliant. I read Beyond Belief; Islamic Excursions in my MFA program, and appreciated his detailed, narrative approach to laying out the array of different Islamic countries. But his position on women authors is laughable. Oh well, no one says that great writers can’t also be donkey butts! I’m over here from Bloggers’ Ball, and glad I stumbled onto your site!
I second the donkey’s butt analysis.
This site is genius. Can’t wait to read what pours in.
